Advent Calendar Filler Ideas for Preschoolers

Link was obsessed with the Halloween decorations this year so Christmas is going to be even more exciting! He now gets that Santa will be coming (although he asks me everyday if it’s tonight). He’s at the perfect age where he believes in all the magic that comes along with the holiday. Last weekend we kicked off our holiday season with a visit to the Millarville Christmas Market and now I’m in full on Christmas mode. My first holiday project Link’s advent calendar. I’ve managed to gather all the fillers so now I just have to put it all together! I reused a couple things from last year (I know this will be the last year that I can get away with that) but most of the ideas are new.

Laundry and Mudroom Makeover

Our mudroom / laundry room was the definition of “builders standard.” When we built our house 10 years ago we were trying to cut costs wherever we could so we didn’t do any upgrades in this space and boy you could tell! 10 Great Animal Books for Kids

We are a family of bookworms. My husband, myself and now Link all love reading. We often visit used bookstores, libraries, and make family trips to Indigo on the weekends. If we aren’t reading you can probably find us at the zoo so I thought I’d combine the two and create a list of the best animal books for kids. Continue reading

DIY Face Cleanser & Pads

 DIY Face Cleanser & Pads

I’ve been on the search for the perfect face cleanser but I couldn’t find something that I loved or that wasn’t too expensive. I have oily skin that’s prone to breakouts and have been a long time user of Oxy pads. I know that they are quite harsh and full of chemicals but they worked the best for me. I am very sensitive to perfumy scents and the ease of the pad meant I consistently used them. I’ve tried many different brands of wipes and pads but they either irritated my skin or were quite pricy and they all seem so wasteful when you use them twice a day.

Hidden Veggie Mac & Cheese

This macaroni & cheese is the perfect comfort food with a healthy kick!

Veggie Mac & Cheese - Life Fling - 8

It’s not easy to feed your family a healthy home cooked meal that is quick and easy and they will actually enjoy. I know that kids need to learn to eat vegetables in their natural form and hopefully learn to like them. (Though I am still waiting on that for myself.) But sometimes it’s nice to sit down to a meal together with no bartering or whining. One that doesn’t involve fast food.

This macaroni & cheese will have them gobbling up their vegetables without even knowing it. Even begging for seconds!
